Day 4: Passion of the Christ

Today was a full day of walking for the Heavenly USA missionaries. With a friendly new tour guide, Itamar, we followed the footsteps of Jesus, starting from the location where Jesus was first imprisoned. We visited each of the 14 significant locations of the Passion of Christ including every time Jesus fell as he carried the cross, when the cross was carried with Simon of Cyrene, when Mary first saw him on the path to Golgotha, all the way up until he was placed in the sepulcher.

Soon after this experience, we finally arrived at the long awaited Western Wall. Each Heavenly USA member carried with them a list of names and prayer requests personally gathered during our 24-day fundraising period just before coming to Israel. We hope that our prayers can be a channel for our Heavenly Father to work in the lives of each person who entrusted us with their requests.

Afterwards, we went to the Garden Tomb, one of two places where Jesus may have been buried aside from the sepulcher. To end the day, we had the opportunity to go to the “Night Spectacular,” a sound and light show held at the Tower of King David. We are looking forward to going north to the Sea of Galilee, and continuing this amazing pilgrimage. Shalom!
